LAREDO, TX -- On Monday morning, an aggressive dog attacked two people causing severe injuries to their hands, legs and face. Joe Baeza, a spokesman for the Police Department, said the attack occurred at 1:30 am, when a report was called in to the police station on the 3300 block of Lane, where a lot of screaming was heard.
When troopers arrived, they found a couple that was attacked by a fierce pit bull, who had already caused injuries to different body parts. Some neighbors tried to help one of them and when they managed to separate the dog from the victims, an officer used this moment to shoot the dog.
It was the only way possible for the animal to stop attacking the victims, who were given medical attention for their injuries. The aggressive dog was alive and held by the staff of the animal control division of the Department of Health.
Baeza said the people targeted are neighbors of the dogs owner and it is investigated to determine whether there will be charges against him, if it is proven that the dog was loose.
The injured were transported by ambulance from the Fire Department at Laredo Medical Center with severe bites on hands and legs and facial injuries.
