Smith County woman mauled by four pit bulls

SMITH COUNTY, TX  -- A Smith County woman says she's lucky to be alive after being mauled by four pit bull dogs on Tuesday.

Patsy Mumphrey, 50, says she was walking near her home on County Road 21 when the dogs, who belong to a neighbor, knocked her down and started biting her all over her body.

Mumphrey sustained injuries to her left arm, legs, left thigh, stomach, shoulder and head.

Mumphrey attempted to fight the dogs off, but was saved when two men driving by saw the attack and stopped to help her.

The Tyler Morning Telegraph's Kenneth Dean will have more on the story in Friday's Tyler Morning Telegraph.
