Toddler flown to Dallas hospital after pit bull attack

TX -- A toddler was flown to Dallas Children's Hospital Wednesday evening after authorities said she was attacked by a pit bull.

Upshur County Sheriff's Office spokesman Freddie Fitzgerald said deputies were dispatched to Ironwood Road at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in connection with a toddler who had been injured by a pit bull.

Fitzgerald said the two-year-old, whose name has not been released, was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Gilmer, then flown to Dallas Children's Hospital.

He said the dog was seized from the western Upshur County residence, and taken to an area veterinary clinic to be quarantined and had not yet been put down.

The toddler's condition was unknown Wednesday evening around 8:15, Fitzgerald said.
