Woman, 77, attacked by german shepherds

AUSTRALIA -- A 77-year-old Melbourne woman has been attacked by two german shepherd dogs in her home less than a week after a young girl was mauled to death by a dog.

The woman, who discovered the dogs had entered her backyard, was knocked to the ground at her Hugh Street home in Ringwood about 11.25am (AEST) today.

She suffered a bite to her ankle and thigh, some scratching and was very shaken, an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.

Police said the dogs chased the woman into her sunroom when she tried to escape and bit her again before she managed to lock them out of the house.

The woman's wounds were treated by paramedics before she was taken to Maroondah Hospital in a stable condition.

The dogs have been seized by Maroondah Council.
