MASSACHUSETTS - Police say the owner of a pit bull responsible for sending a little girl to the hospital could now be facing several charges related to the attack.
The two-year-old was reportedly waiting for a taxi in Chelsea with her mom Tuesday when a dog they didn't know – with no tags on it – came out of nowhere and visciously bit her in the stomach.
Police say the mom jumped in and pulled the animal off her daughter.
Several Good Samaritans were able to corner the pit bull until police arrived. The toddler's injuries are not life-threatening.
The dog will be quarantined for 10 days. Police say the owner faces several charges, including leash law violations and failure to register the dog.
