Pit Bull Attacks Animal Control Officer

TEXAS -- A pit bull that was roaming around in El Paso's Lower Valley attacked an animal services officer Wednesday.

Residents in the 900 block of Lomita Drive reported that a 60 pound pit bull that they believe was a stray was chasing after people, said city officials.

When an animal services officers went out to try to catch the dog, he was bitten in the face.

City officials said the officer was able to get the dog into custody despite his injuries.

The dog, which had no registration or microchip, was euthanized for rabies testing, said city officials.
