UNITED KINGDOM -- A Warwickshire police officer was left needing hospital treatment after being attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier while on duty.
Police were called to the Elizabeth Way area of Long Lawford to deal with another matter on August 18 when the terrier escaped from a nearby house and attacked the officer.
The dog bit the man on his leg, causing deep lacerations and he was taken to hospital.
Police arrested the woman who owned the dog for allowing her pet to be dangerously out of control.
She has since been charged with the offence and the dog has been seized.
The police officer was discharged from hospital and has returned to duty.
