NORTH CAROLINA -- Animal Control officers are investigating two dogs that ran loose for hours, attacking other dogs and even knocking down a woman on her morning walk Wednesday.
The dogs are both Rottweilers and weigh about 100 pounds each. They were finally caught late Wednesday morning after leading Animal Control officers on a miles-long chase across south Charlotte.
The family of Wanda Davis said the dogs jumped on her and knocked her down around 6:30 a.m. on Candlewood Drive in the Starmount community.
As she tried to get away from the dogs, a school bus driver spotted her and let her onto the bus for safety.
The dogs, however, kept running and causing trouble.
Police got more than a half-dozen calls from people who saw the dogs running along Park Road and Park South Drive. At least two other dog owners said their dogs were attacked by the Rottweilers.
Animal Control has the dogs under quarantine for 10 days while they investigate whether to charge the dogs' owners.
Davis wasn't bitten by the dogs, but her family said she was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with back injuries.
