SOUTH AFRICA -- A little girl, believed to be about six years old, is in a serious condition after she was attacked and bitten by a pit bull at a residence in Kempton Park yesterday afternoon shortly after 5pm.
Derrick Banks, ER24 spokesman, said paramedics from Johannesburg East rushed to the scene after receiving the call. Once on scene, they found the little girl and quickly assessed her.
She had suffered serious trauma to her head and left ear. They placed bandages to her head to help stop the bleeding. Once stabilised she was rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
It is unclear who the dog belongs to or why the dog even attacked her but the authorities were notified and would investigate the incident further.
