Passersby Tried To Rescue Elderly Man From Vicious Dog Attack

TEXAS —An 88-year-old Waco man was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center after two dogs attacked him just before 4 p.m. Wednesday in the backyard of his home in the 2800 block of Braemer Drive.

The two dogs, at least one of which was a pit bull, evidently chewed their way through the wooden fence surrounding a neighbor’s yard and then attacked the elderly man, who was in the backyard of his home, police said.

A woman who was selling door-to-door in the neighborhood heard the man’s screams and tried to stop the attack by throwing things at the two dogs, police said.

When that didn’t work, she ran to the street and flagged down a passing Time Warner cable employee who joined the effort to drive the dogs off, police said.

One of the two dogs retreated to its yard, but the other continued to attack, police said, biting the man repeatedly.

When officers arrived, the second dog was still standing beside the victim, growling, police said.
Officers shot the animal three times when it approached them in what police said was an aggressive manner.

The owners didn't want to go on camera, but say
their 'only concern is for their neighbor'

An animal control officer seized the other dog, police said.

[Hmm, if their only concern is for their neighbor then why would they bring these dogs to this neighborhood to begin with?? And let's see if they're even current on state-required rabies vax...]
