Pit bull owner attacked by own dogs in Rockford

ILLINOIS -- A pair of dogs described as pit bulls were captured after they apparently attacked their owner around 10:33 a.m. today in the 3200 block of Collins Street.

Rockford Police were dispatched to the area to assist Winnebago County Animal Control when it was discovered the woman, age unknown, had suffered serious injuries during the attack and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The dogs were taken into custody by animal control and the case is under investigation.

[NOTE: Another news story identified the dogs as 'two American Bulldogs', which prompted people on the comment section to insist "they're not pit bulls!" I suppose it's akin to an owner of a Sheltie screaming that they called it a Miniature Collie. "It's a Shetland Sheepdog, not a Miniature Collie!" Pff, whatever.]
