Dog attack leaves Pittsfield neighbors shaken

MICHIGAN -- It’s something neighbors on Maple Road in Pittsfield Township won’t soon forget: a bloody attack from a pair of American Bulldogs on a woman walking her two small dogs.

It happened Tuesday afternoon.

Neighbors said the woman had just left her house with her two beloved Chihuahuas for a walk.

Both small dogs were on leashes.

Right next door, several American bulldogs behind a chain link fence.

The owner of those bulldogs didn’t want to give his name to Local 4 but says he went to the store for just a few minutes and has no idea how his dogs got loose.

He says the Chihuahuas bark at his dogs, but nothing like what happened next has ever happened before.

The American Bulldogs somehow got through the fence, attacked the smaller dogs, killing them both.

The woman also suffered sever bites to her face, likely trying to break up the deadly confrontation.

Neighbor Lloyd Quicksey said police were called and by the time he ran down the street, he could see the woman on a stretcher in “excruciating pain.”

That woman remains in the hospital today. Her family did not want to speak with Local 4.

The owner of the American Bulldogs says he feels terrible about what happened.

Pittsfield Township police said the incident remains under investigation and that owner could face criminal charges of harboring vicious animals.

The Bulldogs were euthanized this morning.
