California: Owner flees after his pit bull attacks woman

CALIFORNIA -- Yolo County Animal Services are on the hunt for a dog and its owner, after a woman taking a walk was bitten on the leg by the dog as its owner walked the dog on a leash and didn’t leave his information.

The woman was walking in the area of North Cottonwood, South of West Woodland Avenue, when the owner was walking his dog, a brown brindle male pit bull, on a leash. As she passed the dog, the dog turned and attacked, leaving puncture wounds to her thigh area.

This happened just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The owner of the dog is being described as a slender Hispanic male, 5’6” tall, weighing about 145 pounds. He has black hair and was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. The owner also had two young boys with him when the incident happened. They’re about four to seven years old.

It is important to locate a dog after it has attacked for testing and for important rabies prevention measures.

If you have any information regarding this incident or the dog and its owner, you are asked to please contact the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Services Section at (530) 668-5287. This line is 24-hours. You can also send them an email at animal.bite@yolocounty.org.
