TEXAS -- On Friday, a large dog was shot and killed by a Fort Worth police officer when he bit two electricity employees, a pedestrian, and charged an officer. According to reports, the dog was some kind of a bully breed or mix.
The incident began when two Oncor electric employees were sent to a home to investigate an illegal power connection. They entered the backyard to fulfill the work order when the resident and dog came outside.
Apparantly the decision to disconnect the illegal power connection didn't go over well with the home owner as it quickly escalated into a heated argument.
It ended when the dog stepped into the debate by lunging at one of the utility employees, latching onto his arm. The owner got the dog to let go before the out-of-control animal went on a rampage, attacking the second employee as he was climbing the truck and another man walking down the street.
The second time the owner used a "metal pole" to free the worker from his dog.
Police were called in and Fort Worth Animal Care and Control were alerted of the incident.
The owner got the dog back behind the fence, but then decided to leave. Reports do not say if it was to follow the victims to the hospital or to disappear.
We do know that he was called back to talk to officers when they arrived.
While police were waiting for his return, the angry dog escaped out of the fence and charged a police officer. Two officers fired shots, killing the dog.
