Kingston man charged with harboring ‘dangerous dog’

NEW YORK -- A 27-year-old resident of Downs Street has been cited for the second time in less than a month with harboring a dangerous dog.

The latest summons issued to Randy Post, the pit bull dog’s owner, comes after the dog is said on Jan. 1 to have chased two women and a child from the street up onto the resident’s front porch, where it cornered the three until someone came and took the dog back inside.

Based on an investigation, Kingston dog control officer Shaun MacCreery seized the dog from Post’s residence at 214 Downs St. The dog was taken to the Esopus Animal Shelter, where it will be held pending city court action.

On Dec. 15, 2011, MacCreery issued a summons to Post for allowing the dog to run loose on the street. That case is pending in city court.
