Lisa’s boyfriend, Carl Edwards, was out walking with her brother, Tony Chadwick, on the A6 on Wednesday when they were approached by a Staffordshire Bull off its lead.

Lisa said: “My boyfriend and brother were out walking Brooke and they also had my nine-month-old puppy in their arms.
“It was raining really heavily and they took shelter in a bus stop to protect them from the rain because my puppy was shivering in the cold.
“A man walked past with a dog lead around his shoulders and his dog walking loose by his side.
“He just went mad and ragged my Labrador and threw him into the road.”
Lisa said the two men tried to get to get the Staff Bull off Brooke, but the owner refused to help.
She said: “Drivers were driving past and shouting and my brother shouted at the man to kick his dog off, but he just said ‘no, let it finish’,
“I was disgusted. I don’t know how people can do these things.”
Lisa said she is hoping to trace the owner in order to have him prosecuted for having his dog out of control in public.
She said: “It’s not the dog’s fault, it’s the owner’s fault.
“All I can think is that because my bitch is in season then the other dog might also be a bitch and she was feeling threatened and just attacked.
“They brought Brooke back to the house and I was frantic.
“I took her to the vets and she had to have an operation on her shoulder which was badly hurt.
“She now has drips coming out of it and has to go back to the vets in 10 days. She can’t do anything but rest until then.
“She is gorgeous, absolutely adorable. “She just looks at me with this sorry look in her eyes like all she wants to do is play, but she can’t.
“I’m intense and passionate about animals and I just want to warn other people so it doesn’t happen again.”
Coun Eric Bell, who oversees animal welfare at Chorley Council, said: “It’s terribly sad to hear of another dog attack and this is why we are calling for local authorities to be given more powers to deal with these sorts of incidents.
“We are investigating the circumstances of what happened and I’d urge anyone who saw what happened or knows who the owner of the dog is to contact us on 01257 515151.”
