Man uses pepper spray to prevent dog attack

SOUTH CAROLINA -- A Simpsonville man used pepper spray to protect himself and his dog when two loose dogs approached him, according to a Simpsonville police report.

The victim was walking his dog when two pit bulls “ran toward him in an aggressive manner and attempted to attack his dog,” at about 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 25 near West Yellow Wood and Corkwood drives, the report said.

The victim used pepper spray on both dogs and kicked one to prevent them from attacking his dog, the report said.

The victim said the dogs’ owner came running after them and gained control of them, the report said.

The dogs’ owner said her dog ran up to the victim and just wanted to play, the report said.

The owner was fined $500 for dogs running at large and has a Feb. 22 court date, according to a ticket.
