UNITED KINGDOM -- A tiny Yorkshire Terrier suffered serious injuries when it was savaged by a powerful large French Mastiff on Teignmouth beach.
Now the owner of Pita, a miniature Yorkshire Terrier, has warned: ‘If it was a child who was attacked, the consequences could have been tragic.’
A pleasant stroll on the beach with their two Yorkies ended in horror for Kim Glover and her partner Simon Rolls.
Suddenly Pita was set on by one of two unleashed Dogue de Bordeaux, another name for the mastiff, which sank its teeth into the little Yorkie.
Fearing their pet was about to be ripped apart, Mr Rolls threw himself on to the mastiff and managed to wrench his jaws off Pita.
‘If Simon had not been there and acted so quickly then the injuries would have been much worse, and Pita could even have been killed,’ said Miss Glover.
