Oregon: Hunter Goldberg planned to sacrifice goat, police say. Says he'd already killed one with a machete

OREGON -- Oregon State Police say a Douglas County goat owner's call led them to arrest a man who planned to sacrifice a goat before the New Year.

State police say a woman acted on her suspicions and called them after a man asked to buy one of her goats.

A state trooper who talked with 23-year-old Hunter Goldberg says the man planned to steal the goat and then sacrifice it.

The trooper said Goldberg told him that he'd sacrificed another goat a few weeks earlier and was trying to complete another one before the New Year arrived.

The trooper found two machetes in the man's car.

Goldberg now faces charges of animal abuse, trespassing and conspiracy and is in the Douglas County Jail.
