Pit Bull Attack on Woman Leads to Boyfriend's Arrest

ALASKA -- A pit bull attack on a woman led to the arrest of her boyfriend -- who allegedly ordered the dog to attack her -- by Anchorage police early Wednesday morning.

APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says officers were called that morning to a local hospital, where 37-year-old Daemion Patillo’s girlfriend was being treated for numerous dog bites and scratches on her arms and legs, including multiple puncture wounds. She told officers that Patillo had strangled her during an argument, then had his blue nose pit bull attack her.

“She was chewed up very badly,” Parker said.

When officers visited Patillo’s apartment on the 3200 block of LaTouche Street at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, he gave them an incorrect name and date of birth but was still taken into custody.

“Officers were able to determine that he was the suspect through the witness descriptions and as they arrested him, found a substance they believed to be cocaine in his wallet,” Parker said in a statement Thursday.

Parker says Patillo faces charges of second-degree assault, fourth-degree misconduct involving controlled substances and providing false information. He is being held on $6,000 bail, and it was unclear Thursday afternoon when he would be arraigned.

The Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center was notified of the incident. According to Parker, the center takes all animals that have bitten humans into custody pending an investigation of each case.
