IOWA -- A Mapleton, Iowa woman is facing charges of animal neglect and animal cruelty after 13 dogs were removed from her home January 12th, and this isn't the first time the woman has been in trouble for cruelty to animals.
Back in July of 2008, 23 of Denise Withee's dogs were found dead or dying in a cornfield in Hall County, Nebraska.
Back in July of 2008, 23 of Denise Withee's dogs were found dead or dying in a cornfield in Hall County, Nebraska.
Last week, Sioux City's Animal Adoption & Rescue Center brought in 13 dogs from Withee's home in Mapleton.
The dogs, seven standard poodles, three Yorkies and three Chihuahuas were found by the Monona County Sheriff's Department during a probation check.
Owning pets violated Withee's probation from the 2008 Nebraska incident.
She's now facing charges of animal neglect and animal cruelty, as well as a possible probation violation.
All of the recovered dogs were found in good condition.
"The dogs were a little on the dirty side, but they were in decent condition and we've had them to the vet and a couple had a couple of internal parasites, which has since been taken care of, but they're all doing very, very well," says Cindy Rarrat, Manager of the Sioux City Animal Adoption & Rescue Center.
This isn't the first time Withee's dogs have been taken to Sioux City.
Back in August of 2008, one month after her dogs were found in Nebraska, more of Withee's dogs were found wandering around Monona County, they were taken to Sioux City as well.
Rarrat says several of the dogs will be reunited with their owners and others have been adopted.
Most of the dogs should be relocated by the end of the day Monday.
