WASHINGTON -- A pair of dogs trapped a Woodland woman in her car while they attacked her pet goats.
The woman called 911 from inside her car about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, after arriving home from dropping her child off at school.
"There's two Rottweilers in my yard," she told the dispatcher. "I'm afraid to go out to my house. They just killed my goat."
The woman, who declined to be interviewed, spotted the two dogs near her goat pen and at first attempted to chase them away. When the dogs turned in her direction, she got back in the car to protect herself.
The woman, who lives on Fairwood Road, told the dispatcher she has never seen the dogs before. While on the phone, she realized the other goat was killed, and told the dispatcher, "I'm sorry, but my goats are like pets."
The dispatcher tells her an animal control officer is on the way. Before one arrives, a neighbor shot one of the dogs, according to the executive director of the Cowlitz County Humane Society. He said the dog was euthanized at a veterinarian's office. The other dog is in its owner's custody.
The owner has paid a dangerous dog fee and is considered in compliance, said the executive director.
The goats were very friendly, said neighbor Carl Bong.
"Every time you'd go outside, they'd come across the whole field, just so you could pet the top of their head," he said. "So they were everybody's pet around here."
