Dog bites woman on Chelan sidewalk

WASHINGTON -- A 50-year-old woman was bitten on her nose and lips by a dog in the 100 block of East Woodin Avenue about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The dog, a Pit Bull / Mastiff mix, was in quarantine at the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society shelter this morning, said Dawn Davies, Humane Society director.

The owner, who had let the dog out of a car to relieve itself, is cooperating with authorities, she said.

The injured woman, from Boise, Idaho, was walking on the sidewalk in downtown Chelan, dropped her purse and had bent over to pick it up when the dog bit her, said Maria Agnew with the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. Her name was not available.

Davies said the woman sought medical treatment but Davies did not know where.
