Dog owner issued summons, after pit bull kills neighbor's poodle

LOUISIANA -- A woman in Houma was issued a summons after her pit bull fatally attacked a neighbor’s toy poodle, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Tuesday afternoon, a sheriff’s office deputy was called to a home in the 200 block of Santa Monica Drive, finding the dead animal at a home.

“Deputies spoke with victim of the poodle who advised that she did not witness the incident but talked with witnesses who informed her that the neighbor's pit bull killed her poodle,” said a statement from Major Malcolm Wolfe, a spokesman Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.

The owner of the pit bull, Cherae Eschete, told deputies that the dog was inside her car.  The dog, according to Eschete, wasn’t on a leash and jumped out her vehicle, ran into the neighbor’s yard and attacked the poodle before she was able to restrain the pit bull, according to the sheriff’s office.

Eschete, 26, was issued a misdemeanor summons for unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog, according to the sheriff’s office.
