Pit bull attacks, kills Chihuahua in McKees Rocks

PENNSYLVANIA -- A McKees Rocks woman said her 13-year-old Chihuahua was attacked and killed by a pit bull.

Marlene Rohm told Channel 11 News she went outside with her Chihuahua, Chache, to grab her newspaper when a neighbor's pit bull got loose and attacked.

Rohm said veterinarians tried to treat the animal's injuries, but her dog could not be saved.

When the other dog attacked, Rohm and her son said they tried to get the pit bull to release their pet.

“I finally got a hold of her harness, and my son was trying to kick her to let go of the dog and she threw it,” said Rohm.

Bob Cetrone, the pit bull's owner, said he has no idea how the dog got loose or why she became so aggressive.

“I'll do anything possible to try to atone for that action,” said Cetrone. “I'll pay for any expenses they incurred with the veterinarian."

Cetrone said he plans to put down his dog, which he’s had for 18 years.
