Pit bulls go on the attack; Animal Control officer fends them off

TENNESSEE -- A West Nashville dog owner surrendered three of her four Pit Bulls after they allegedly attacked a neighbor.

Residents say the dogs have been running loose terrorizing the community for weeks. Metro Animal Control Officers say the dogs tried to attack them when they approached the owner's house on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The man allegedly attacked by the dogs was able to fight them off with the help of a neighbor.

Wendy Warpool agreed to surrender all but three of the dogs to Animal Control. She'll be issued a citation and will appear in court in connection with the animal still in her custody.

She asked if she could keep the pregnant pit bull. The officer told her she'd have to pay any and all fines, so she agreed to surrender it.

Police had to be called out after the husband began cursing at the officer and refusing to give him his identification.

The owner says the dogs have never attacked before but admits they regularly dig out of their backyard pens.

The other dogs will be accessed by Animal Control to determine their future.
