Two pit bulls put down after attacking woman near Sylvan Lake

CANADA -- Two pit bulls that attacked a woman near Sylvan Lake in October have been destroyed by order of a provincial court judge.

The animals, an unneutered male and a female, caused severe wounds to the woman's neck, arms and legs on Oct. 29.

The woman was caring for the animals for their owner at the time of the unprovoked attack.

Sylvan Lake animal control officer Jim DeBoon captured the dogs.

"It was the worst injuries I've ever seen in an animal attack,'' DeBoon said. Following a Dangerous Dog Act hearing in Red Deer court on Thursday, Judge Darrell Riemer ordered the animals destroyed.
