DELAWARE -- A baby boy and his mother have been injured at a home in Newark when they were attacked by the family dog.
Kent County SPCA animal control officer Capt. Brian Whipple says officials were called to the family's home about a year ago when the same dog bit another child.
Sean Krop, the dog's owner, says the pit bull bit his 10-month-old son Tuesday morning and the boy's mother was attacked when she intervened. The dog has been turned over to authorities.
New Castle County Assistant Paramedic Chief Richard Krett says paramedics treated the boy for lacerations to his head and ear. Both the boy and his mother were taken to area hospitals and they were reported to be in stable condition.
