CONNECTICUT -- New London police say a pit bull escaped a local home and was shot to death after biting a worker at an auto sales business and fighting with another dog.
Police told The Day of New London that the dog escaped from a home on Blackhall Street Monday afternoon and ran into Giants Neck Auto Sales, where it bit an employee's hand and started chasing other workers.
The dog then attacked another pit bull owned by the worker who was bitten, and another employee shot the loose dog with a .40-caliber handgun.
The dog managed to return to its home and was taken to a veterinarian, but died from the gunshot wound.
The dog's owner was cited for having a roaming dog and a nuisance dog.
