"Neighbor's Pit Bull Killed Our Dog"

WEST VIRGINIA -- The Rucker family said their world turned upside down on February 23 when their neighbor's pit bull reached under its chain-linked fence and attacked their 4-year-old Sheltie, Abby.

Abby's throat was ripped open but she survived.

RIP Bo

"We asked them after the first attack to do something; secure the fence in some way, get rid of the dog, and none of that had been done," Tina Rucker said.

One month later, they said their worst fear came true when their 9-year-old Pomeranian, Bo, was grabbed by the same male pit bull and treated like a play-toy.

"This was in seconds," she said. "It had come under, grabbed him, jerked him back under the  fence, and both pit bulls got him at that time."

The neighbor disagrees with Rucker and said her story isn't accurate.

The woman said it was Bo, the Pomeranian, that went under the chain-linked fence and onto her property.  She said it was only then that her pit bull attacked Bo.

Rucker said they took the incident in front of Taylor County Magistrate Ricky Reese, who deemed the neighbor's white pit bull 'dangerous'.

Rucker said she wants more than that to be done to the dog she said has terrorized her family.

"We didn't even been asked for it to be put down. We asked for it to be gone. We wanted it removed from the premises. I just don't think in the city, we live close to the pool, we have children walking by during the summer, riding bikes and it just scares me."

The neighbor said neither of her pit bulls are violent animals. She said she will comply with any additional orders the court dishes out, including a safer fence to keep her dogs separate from the Rucker's property.
