UNITED KINGDOM -- Bienvenida Buck, who came to national attention when her lover, Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter Harding, was forced to resign as head of the Armed Forces, has suffered a new heartache.
The former wife of Sir Anthony Buck, the late Conservative minister and QC, has lost her King Charles spaniel, Chanel, in an attack by a dangerous dog in a park.
The former wife of Sir Anthony Buck, the late Conservative minister and QC, has lost her King Charles spaniel, Chanel, in an attack by a dangerous dog in a park.
“It happened last Sunday,” she tells Mandrake. “I left my puppy with a friend and my poor baby was savaged by a Staffordshire-pit bull cross who attacked and killed my baby. She was just five months old and weighed 7lbs.”
The attack took place in Liverpool, where Buck, 55, bought a flat after discovering how relatively cheap property was on the television programme Location, Location, Location. When she needed help looking after the dog in London, it was cared for by Bruce Fogle, the television vet and father of Ben Fogle.
“My friend was walking my puppy and, out of the blue, this beast crushed her to death,” says Buck. “I can’t sleep, I am devastated. To allow people access to dangerous dogs is like giving people weapons – it’s just a different killing machine.”
The dog, and its owner, fled the scene, but Buck has vowed to track it down. “I will catch that killer dog, whatever it takes,” she says. “I have sent swabs from Chanel to a forensic lab in London for a DNA test. I want the killer dog put down and the owners in jail.”
