RHODE ISLAND -- A small dog that was trapped in a Providence drain is safe and sound, after firefighters came to the rescue.
A passerby walking another dog noticed the little Chihuahua in distress and called the Providence Fire Department for help.
The rescue call happened on Pleasant Valley Parkway around 6:40 a.m. Friday.

According to the dog walker who reported the incident, the tri-colored dog was stuck in a concrete drain that was filled with water.
Right now, the Chihuahua is doing just fine, but police are trying to contact the owner so they can be reunited.
