New Brighton pit bulls quarantined after 2 attacks on neighborhood dogs

PENNSYLVANIA -- Investigators filed paperwork Thursday, declaring two pit bulls “dangerous” after attacking two dogs in the same New Brighton neighborhood in the past week.

Trixie, one of the dogs attacked, is covered in staples and stitches after a $1,500 trip to the vet when she was injured Wednesday night.

The dog’s owner said Trixie was attacked by two pit bulls that “had her at each end, tearing her apart.” As the owner defended Trixie, he was bit on his arms and hands.

“She hasn’t moved yet,” Trixie’s owner said of his dog.

Earlier that week, police were called to the same neighborhood when Maxwell, a yorkie, was attacked.

Police gave the pit bulls’ owner seven days to get proper shots, but officials said they never did.

Susan Shultz, a neighbor of the owner’s injured dogs, said something has to be done and that the neighborhood is scared.

Police called the dog warden to discuss the dangerous nature of the two pit bulls. Charges against the pit bulls’ owner include not having a proper license and rabies vaccinations, and declaring the dogs dangerous, ultimately forcing the owner to keep them confined.

Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz was told that Trixie is expected to make a full recovery and that the pit bulls are currently quarantined in the home.
