PENNSYLVANIA -- A Somerset County man was was jailed after authorities said he shouted obscenities, removed his clothes and then dared police to shoot him.

In a court document, Geistown police said Shawn E. Gamber, 40, was drunk when he began shouting obscenities and taunting passing vehicles along Rosewood Street on Monday.

When a Stonycreek Township police officer arrived, Gamber allegedly took off some of his clothes and ran away.

Police later spotted Gamber exiting the woods onto Brentwood Avenue.

“Gamber then took off his shorts, began to yell ‘Shoot me ... I want to die’ ” a court document reads.

Police ordered Gamber to halt but he moved toward the officer clutching his fist, making growling noises and daring him to release the police dog.

Gamber allegedly kicked the dog and then fell to the ground when the dog bit his foot.

Gamber was taken to Memorial Medical Center, where he became disruptive and had to be sedated by medical staff, police said.

Gamber was arraigned Thursday by on-call District Judge John Barron of Upper Yoder Township.

Geistown police charged him with taunting a police dog, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness.

The criminal complaint filed by police lists Gamber as homeless with a last known address in Boswell.

Gamber was sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post $40,000 bond.
