UTAH -- A Weber County Sheriff’s deputy shot an aggressive pit bull Monday after several failed attempts to stop it.
A man pulled into his driveway near 700 S. 1400 West but stayed in his vehicle because the loose dog was approaching him aggressively, Lt. Mark Lowther said.
Around 10 a.m., an animal control officer responded to his call for help and tried for 10 minutes to capture or subdue the dog, which kept barking and snarling at her, Lowther said. She called for extra help.
Another animal control officer and a deputy tried for another 10 minutes to capture the dog.
Fearing the dog would bite someone, the deputy spoke with his supervisor, who came to the scene and shot the dog, Lowther said. As protocol, the sheriff’s office will review the incident.
