Authorities investigate report of dog attacking another in Swissvale

PENNSYLVANIA -- Police in Swissvale are investigating the report of a dog attacking another dog over the weekend.

Carol Hill told Channel 11's Alan Jennings that her dog, Hikie, needed surgery to close several puncture wounds after being attacked by a pit bull and boxer mix on Saturday.

Hill said she was walking Hikie along Lehigh Street when the pit bull boxer, Sadie, attacked.

"The pit bull grabbed him by some hair onto here, picked him up and gave him a shake. My fear and terror the whole time, I thought he was actually grabbing the hair," Hill said.

"It was maddening to keep going in circles, and finally, I got the dog off. I think she would have killed him if I would have just stood still."

According to Sadie's owner's sister, Cindy Edinger, the dog is friendly.

"She's a lovely little dog, just a little rambunctious. They got her as a puppy and have had her now for two years. She went through a little teenage stage, which all dogs do," Edinger said.

Edinger said she thinks Sadie snapped her leash amid "territorial frustration" and that she was protecting her yard.

Authorities said a police report was filed, and the incident remains under investigation.
