Erando Sharon Campos and Lina Adriana Reyes Campos |
TEXAS -- Police have now charged two people in connection with an animal abuse case from over the weekend.
Authorities say (sisters) 38-year-old Lina Adriana Reyes-Campos and 18-year-old Erandi Sharon Campos left a puppy inside a hot car yesterday afternoon and went shopping at Macys.
The puppy was discovered around 2 o'clock on Sunday by shoppers who say it was barking and panting.
Officers arrived to find the one-month-old puppy inside the car with windows that weren't even cracked open. They forced the window of the vehicle open and rescued the puppy, immediately giving him water which he eagerly drank and placing him in their air-conditioned vehicle.
It was at that moment that the sisters arrived at their vehicle with several shopping bags. They insisted they'd only been inside "a few minutes", but witnesses said it had been more than an hour.
The sisters were arrested, each charged with one count of Cruelty to Animals and taken to jail on a $3,000 dollar bond.
