Girl Has Facial Reconstructive Surgery At Vidant After Dog Attack

NORTH CAROLINA -- An 11-year-old girl has gone through facial reconstructive surgery after being attacked this past weekend by a friend's dog.

Bertie County deputies are investigating what happened to Lauren Baker of Windsor on Saturday.

Her father tells us the girl was playing at a friend's house in Colerain, down on the river. The two had been picking things up out of the water. The girl found a can and threw it. She went to go pick up the can and that's when the bulldog attacked her. The little girl said she felt like she was drowning and the dog bit her on the face several times.

Lauren has gone through reconstruction surgery on her ear, nose and lip at Children's Hospital at Vidant Medical Center.

The dad tells us the last he heard the owners could not find their dog.

[They can't "find" the dog?! More like, they're hiding the dog.]
