Malamute rescued after fall off Gorge trail

OREGON -- A rescue crew and five Good Samaritans teamed up to save a dog that fell down a cliff in the Gorge.

The Malamute fell about 200 feet and was seriously injured along the Eagle Creek Trail last Monday.

Bohdee's owner said he got too close to the edge, lost his footing and was gone in a flash.

It took several hours for the rescuers to reach Bohdee and pull him back up to the trail.

"He wasn't crying, he wasn't moving, he was alive, but we didn't know how long he was going to be alive," said his owner and hiking partner, Amanda Reese.

Once they got him back up on the ridge, Bohdee was rushed to Southeast Animal Hospital where he had emergency surgery.
