'Out-of-control' dog attacks terrified walker

‎UNITED KINGDOM -- ‎A woman who was attacked by an unleashed dog while out walking a pet she was caring for has lambasted the owners who she said had no control over the animal.

The Harborough woman, who wants to be known only as Jude, has reported the incident to the police as she fears others may fall victim to similar attacks by the same dog.

She said: “Somebody had three dogs off the lead at 10.30pm on Sunday night. One of them came bounding over and attacked me and my dog.

“The three big dogs came charging at us, all off the lead and the owners didn’t do anything.

“I shouted out ‘Get your dog on the lead’ but didn’t hear a squeak out of them.”

The attack took place in Little Bowden Recreation Ground.

Jude described the dogs as a Boxer cross, a Labrador and a third dog which she said looked similar to a Pit Bull Terrier.

She believes the dogs were with a man and a woman and that one of the dogs was called Alfie as the woman shouted that name at one stage.

Although neither Courtney the dog nor Jude were injured in the attack she said the
dog bit her as she tried to fend it off and the incident terrified her.

She said: “I’d like them to be named and shamed.

“And if anybody else has had any such incidents, come forward so something can
be done.”

She added: “They should not have been off a lead.

“I’m not an advocate of the fact that every dog has to be on a lead all the time but if you have a dog you should know how to control it.

“The majority of owners are responsible but what we need are tougher laws on the people who can’t control their dogs. We need to be able to deal with the bad minority.”
