NORTH CAROLINA -- Forty-five cats were seized last week from a Mint Hill home, Animal Care & Control officials said.
The conditions of the home on Gold Wagon Lane were detrimental to the animals’ health and well-being, officials said.
Animal Care & Control said its veterinary staff performed health and temperament checks on most of the cats, and some were not able to be adopted into new homes because of lack of socialization.
Officials said some of the cats will receive their final assessments on Thursday and will be sent to rescue groups or put up for adoption.
Officials said they are working with the homeowner and agreed to allow him to keep three cats as pets.
Those three cats were returned to him after being given health assessments, sterilized and vaccinated, officials said.
Animal Control officers said they’re still investigating the case and will continue to do random checks at the home.
