Child recovers after bog bite at animal shelter

OHIO -- A three-year-old boy was bitten by a Rottweiler at the Summit County Animal Control Shelter.

The attack happened Wednesday at the shelter on Opportunity Parkway.

According to Shelly Inman, the little boy's mother, the child was bitten in the leg and needed 15 stitches.

The little boy was being held by Shelly's boyfriend, and the dog was on a leash, held by an employee.

According to Inman, the dog suddenly lunged and bit the three-year-old.

[from the video clip: Moments earlier the Rottweiler was playing outside with them. Shelter employees told them the Rottweiler was good with children, but when they went back into the building the dog attacked.

"The dog just out of nowhere, jumped up and grabbed my son's leg. There was no barking, no growling.. there was no signs of it at all. [His leg] was just gushing blood everywhere."]

The dog is now quarantined for 10 days to make sure it does not have rabies.

Jason Dodson, Chief of Staff for the Summit County Executive, confirms there was an incident at the facility, they have been in contact with the mom and they are investigating the incident.
