Dog attacks Clarksville Police officer, still at large

TENNESSEE -- A Clarksville Police officer was attacked by a dog on Granny White Road this weekend.

At about 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Officer Chris Eley responded to a dog at large call, according to a police report.

As he was walking down the street, a dog ran up and tried to attack him.

Eley jumped on the hood of his patrol car while the dog lunged at him multiple times, according to the report. The dog was extremely aggressive and had to be tased.

A resident of the neighborhood told Eley the dog belonged to his juvenile neighbor at 956 Granny White Road, the report said. The juvenile’s, Cynthia M. Atkinson, 51, said her son was out of town.

Animal Control responded, but they were unable to find the dog, according to the report. Atkinson was cited by Animal Control for a dog at large.

Animal Control Director Tim Clifton was unable to comment on Monday.
