CALIFORNIA -- A pit bull bit a 3-year-old girl in the face Saturday evening when she wandered into the dog’s yard in Oceanside, police said.
The girl was taken by ambulance to Rady Children’s Hospital, and is expected to recover from the wound, police Lt. Sean Marchand said.
Police were called to the home on Valencia Street off Kurtz Street about 7:30 p.m. The girl had left her house without her parents’ knowledge, walked next door and got into the fenced yard where the pit bull was secured, Marchand said.
He did not know further circumstances of why the dog bit the child. Humane Society officers were sent to the house, but Marchand said he did not believe the dog would be taken away into quarantine.
