Brent Cleasby’s 120 lb. rottweiller husky cross, Lady, was mauled by the same dogs last year and said he’s not surprised they have attacked again.
“It was a matter of time,” he said.
Lady was attacked in 2011 by the same pit bulls which had attacked a woman recently. |
“It was a matter of when, not if. It was a very preventable tragedy.”
A year ago, the dogs broke through the skirt of the trailer and attacked Lady while she was tied up on his porch.
“They just about killed her,” he said.
He was left with a $1,000 vet bill for her two surgeries, which the attacking dogs’ owner covered.
“They are supposed to be looked after in that yard when they are out … they have been an ongoing problem,” he said.
Resident Christina Reid said she was surprised the pit bulls were still around after the attack on Cleasby’s dog. She was shocked to hear a woman had been mauled by the same canines.
“I was surprised they didn’t make them get rid of the dogs,” she said.
“I thought the people who own the dogs would have done something to make sure they weren’t going to attack someone else.”
A dog owner herself, Reid said she spoke to the owners to voice her concerns about their animals.
“We used to go by the house to get onto Snake Hill with our dogs and we stopped going that way because we were afraid,” she said.
“She said the dogs wouldn’t hurt anybody.”
