Virginia: Someone poisoned three dogs and then dumped their bodies together

VIRGINIA -- The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of three dogs found near the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department early Wednesday morning. According to Sheriff Fred Clark, the bodies of the dogs were found near the five green trash collection boxes near the fire station.

One of the dogs, a hound, belonged to Randy Fisher, who lives across the road from the fire department. According to Clark, Fisher found his dog when he arrived home around 8 a.m. yesterday morning after working third shift.

As he walked around the area, he found two other dead dogs, a Beagle and a Blue Heeler.

The animals’ bodies were all close to a big chunk of meat that appeared to have some type of liquid poured over it. “Whether the dogs were poisoned or simply unable to digest the meat is being tested,” said the Sheriff.

Deputy Tyler Clarke, who is investigating the incident, called in Animal Control Officer Todd Moser, who had the hound’s remains sent to the Central Virginia Agricultural Office in Lynchburg for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.

Officials there said it will take at least ten days before any determination can be made.
