Dog starved and left in filth by cruel owner

UNITED KINGDOM -- A cruel dog owner starved his pet so badly almost every bone in its body was visible under the skin.

Cops were horrified when they found emaciated Snoop lying in his own filth at 22-year-old Edward McNeill’s home.

The six-year-old Collie - Labrador had wasted away to barely 8kg — HALF the weight of a healthy dog.

His ribs, spine and pelvis were clearly visible and there was no fat or muscle on his body.

When police quizzed twisted McNeill, he said: “It is terrible, I know.”

He claimed he had been too ill himself to care for the dog.

Scottish SPCA officers seized Snoop after he was discovered in March and nursed him back to health.

At Paisley Sheriff Court this week McNeill admitted causing his pet unnecessary suffering by failing to feed him properly.

Prosecutors want him banned from owning a dog.

Defence agent Rhona Lynch said McNeill had been given Snoop as a pup and “just could not cope”.

Sheriff George Kavanagh asked for medical records to back up McNeill’s claims of ill health and deferred sentence until September 25.

Scottish SPCA chief inspector Hamish Mackintosh said: “Snoop is now in a loving new home.”
