Illinois man gets 2 years for killing Chihuahua

ILLINOIS -- A suburban Chicago man who killed his roommate's Chihuahua during an argument is going to prison for two years.

Twenty-year-old Oscar Guerrero of Elgin agreed Wednesday to plead guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals in a deal with Kane County prosecutors. In exchange, he'll get the two-year prison term.

Associate Judge James Hallock accepted the plea.

Guerrero killed the dog in May during an argument with his roommate. He grabbed Daisy the Chihuahua by the scruff of the neck and threw her at a wall, killing her.

Guerrero was given credit for the four and a half months he's already spent in the Kane County jail, where he had been held in lieu of $50,000 bond since his arrest.
