Myrtle Beach officers went to 802 65th Ave. N., about 10:40 p.m. Thursday to investigate information regarding a person wanted by authorities, police said. When officers arrived they heard yelling and screaming coming from an apartment where the wanted person was presumed to be living.

Officers knocked on the door and told the couple they were checking on their welfare since they heard yelling and screaming coming from the apartment, according to the report. An officer asked the man to put his Pit Bull away or in a kennel because the dog was viciously barking at the officers.

The man closed the door and locked the deadbolt, according to the report. An officer at the rear of the apartment saw the man trying to run away and over a fence.

The officer asked the man to stop and he ran back into the apartment, according to the report. Potter then came out of the apartment and began to yell at officers in the parking lot, which is where she was arrested.

The man then opened the front door and released the dog, which chased officers in the parking lot until they got into their patrol cars, according to the report. A neighbor restrained the dog and secured him, while police arrested the couple.
