Child Airlifted to Le Bonheur after Dog Attack

MISSISSIPPI -- A child was airlifted from north Mississippi to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis after she was attacked by a pit bull Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department, a 911 call was received from a home at 181 Pin Oak Drive near the Warsaw community around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10 regarding a dog attack.

When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found a 9-year-old girl had been attacked by a pit bull; she was transported to Le Bonheur by air ambulance.

Marshall County Animal Control took possession of the dog and placed it in quarantine.

The child's condition has not been released. The incident is still under investigation.
